📜 About & history

Shanhaiguan Mosque was built in 1380 (the 13th year of the Ming Hongwu era) beside the moat outside the western gate of the Shanhaiguan fortress. During the Cultural Revolution it was partly occupied by a shoe factory in 1970 and returned in 1980. The government later funded two rounds of restoration, with the main repairs completed and the mosque reopened in November 1985.
