Shangzhuang Grand Mosque (Qilian)

Shangzhuang Grand Mosque in Dong Village, Babao Town, Qilian County, Haibei Prefecture, blends Chinese ethnic features with classical Arab architecture and was founded in 1919. Demolished during the Cultural Revolution, it was rebuilt by the congregation in 1980 and a new brick-and-timber mosque was completed on the original site in 1984. On 12 April 2013 it was listed in the ninth batch of Qinghai provincial protected heritage sites. The ridge of the prayer hall is 9.9 metres high and the octagonal minaret over the gate 8.9 metres.
