Shaanxi Laofang Mosque (also called the Shaanxi Laofang Qingzhen Mosque, Laofang Mosque for short, and formerly the Shaanxi Grand Mosque) is a Hui mosque in Tianshan District, Urumqi, following the Gedimu tradition. Accounts of its founding differ, but it is certain that it was rebuilt in 1877 (3rd year of the Qing Guangxu era) and renamed Shaanxi Laofang Mosque in 1906; it was one of the 23 Hui congregations of Dihua (Urumqi) before 1949. During the Cultural Revolution it housed a bookbinding works and a brush factory. Its prayer hall was listed in the third batch of Urumqi municipal protected sites in April 2003 and was dismantled and restored in 2013 with 3 million yuan from the city government. The courtyard complex covers nearly 1,000 square metres; the east-facing prayer hall is five bays wide with 310 square metres of floor area.
