📜 About & history
The mosque traces its origins to Shaanxi Muslim military settlers who arrived during the Qing expansion into Xinjiang. The original structure was destroyed in the 1864 unrest and rebuilt at its present site in 1877 after Qing forces regained control. In 1906 it received its current name when a branch congregation split off to form the Urumqi Shaanxi Grand Mosque.
