The East Mosque was Shenyang's second historic mosque, built in 1785 (Qianlong 50) as the city's Hui population grew beyond what the South Mosque could serve. A stone tablet preserved at the South Mosque, the 'Record of the Rebuilding of the Halls of Shenyang East Mosque', documents later restoration of its halls. It stands within the same historic Muslim quarter of Shenhe District as the South and North mosques. It is one of the cluster of Qing-era mosques that grew up around the old Xiaoximen (West Gate) Hui community.

Reached via bus routes serving the Xiaoxi Road / Shenhe Hui quarter; confirm route numbers locally.
About 4-5 km southeast of Shenyang North Railway Station; take a taxi to the Shenhe Hui quarter.
Within Shenyang's old-city Hui quarter, a short distance east of the South Mosque near Zhongjie.
