Qianheyan ('Front Riverbank') Mosque is one of the eight historic teaching-ward mosques of the Bafang quarter, sitting less than 100 metres south of Tiejia Mosque. Its distinctive roof is crowned with a sculpted open Qur'an, symbolising the supremacy of scripture, and it is regarded as one of the most architecturally striking mosques in northwest China. The prayer hall can accommodate about 2,500 worshippers at once. Like the other Bafang mosques it blends Chinese classical forms with Islamic decoration.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
Within the Bafang Muslim quarter, just south of Tiejia Mosque and near the Bafang Shisan Xiang lanes.
In the western Bafang old town along Xinxi Road; roughly a 10-minute walk from the city centre.
Look for the open-Qur'an sculpture on the roof — its most famous feature. Ask a driver: 请带我去清真前河沿寺
