Puzhen Mosque, at Tianjingwa in Huangyao Village, Pukou District, was set up in 1989 with funds raised by Li Chao and Ma Yulong to serve local Muslims' prayer and funeral needs after the two old mosques at the east gate had been taken over. Its first building was finished in October 1989, the prayer hall in 1991 and the imam's quarters and ablution house in 1993; it also has a room for washing the dead.
