Mingshantang Mosque

明善堂清真寺
📍 Zhoukou · Chuanhui District 🏛️ 1710

📜 About & history

Mingshantang Mosque stands on Hebei Old Street in Chuanhui District, Zhoukou, Henan, right by the east bank of the Jialu River. Founded in 1710 (48th year of the Qing Kangxi era), it covers 4.5 mu with a prayer hall, lecture rooms and ablution rooms. At first it had only a men's mosque; a women's mosque was added in 1735. The great flood of August 1975 washed away some riverside buildings, which were later removed when the river was widened. Today it keeps a three-bay prayer hall, five lecture rooms and seven ablution rooms, while the women's mosque retains more than ten rooms.
