📜 About & history
Mengzi was a late-Qing treaty port and customs town, a major trade hub of south-east Yunnan. Its city mosque was built in 1907 with funds raised by Muslim merchants passing through Mengzi. The city's Hui are Sunni; Mengzi and its district historically had around ten mosques, mostly Gedimu (old teaching), spread through Wenlan, Caoba and Zhicun.

Mengzi city buses through the old town of Wenlan Subdistrict.
In the old city of Mengzi (prefectural capital of Honghe); a few minutes by taxi from the centre. Show the Chinese address to the driver.
Founded by merchants in a former treaty port; halal food in the Hui quarter. Close to Shadian and Kaiyuan mosques.
