📜 About & history

The Mengzhou West Mosque was built in 1829 under the Daoguang Emperor northwest of Sangpo village, originally with a prayer hall, a lecture hall and other rooms totalling 39 bays. Its buildings were damaged in the 1943 unrest and it was occupied for years, reopening in 1980. It serves the Hui community of Sangpo, famed for its leather industry.
