Liaodong Hui Village lies in Xinqiaohe Town, Ziyang District - the only ethnic-minority administrative village within the urban area of Yiyang, Hunan, and officially recognised as a nationally distinctive ethnic-heritage village. Its historic mosque, nearly 300 years old, is the centre of religious life for the long-settled Hui Muslim residents there, complementing an older mosque in Taojiang County (Taojiang Zhafu Mosque, built in 1804) that serves Yiyang's larger rural Hui community.
