📜 About & history
Jiuxian Mosque stands in Jiuxian, the old seat of Ye County and home of the ancient Lord Ye, now Yeyi Town, on the west side of the Xu–Nan Highway 12 km from Ye County and near the Jiuxian exit of the Lan–Nan Expressway. Serving more than 2,000 Muslims, it is the mosque with the second-largest Hui congregation in Ye County and the county's oldest. The old Ye County gazetteer records an inscription by Huang Tingjian, magistrate in the Song dynasty, mentioning a "newly built Huihui mosque" at the north gate, dating the mosque to the Song. A thousand-year-old tree combining arborvitae and juniper still grows there. When the ancient bluestone-pillared prayer hall became unsafe, Li Changling of the north village proposed its rebuilding in 2005, and the mosque committee and congregation raised the funds with the support of local officials.
