Jinshan Town Mosque

锦山镇清真寺
📍 Chifeng · Harqin Banner 🏛️ 1884

📜 About & history

Jinshan Town Mosque, at the east end of Old Street in Jinshan Town, Harqin Banner, was founded in 1884 (10th year of the Qing Guangxu era). It covers five mu in two courtyards: the outer one walled with rammed earth, the inner one entered through a second gate up four steps. The original buildings were destroyed by a Xibo River flood in the Guangxu era; the mosque was then rebuilt in a house donated by the local Hui family of scholar Bai. The grey-brick prayer hall has a rolled-dragon ridge topped with a bronze finial, and its front porch is painted with the Eight Views of Rehe. A banner presented by a central government delegation in 1952 is kept here.
