Jiezi Mosque was built in the early Ming dynasty in 1370 CE and expanded under the Qing and again in 1931. Destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, it was rebuilt in 1982 modeled on the Kashgar mosque; it is the ancestral mosque of the Salar people and the second-largest in Qinghai.
