📜 About & history
Jiezi Grand Mosque sits in Jiezi Town, the cradle of the Salar people, about 5 km from Xunhua county town and 140 km from Xining. First founded in 1370, it is the second-largest mosque in Qinghai. The complex covers about 4,050 square metres; its square prayer hall of 1,089 square metres holds some 1,200 worshippers, with 23-metre minarets at the four corners. It is a provincial cultural relic and safeguards a revered hand-copied Quran said to have been carried by the Salars' ancestors from Central Asia.
