📜 About & history

The West Mosque of Dengzhou was founded in the Ming dynasty and has more than four hundred years of history. Originally built inside the brick-walled city, it was moved to its present site in the early Qing after being damaged in late-Ming warfare; its main hall and moon-watching tower were rebuilt during the Qing Daoguang era. It remains a religious centre for the local Hui Muslim community.
