📜 About & history
Dandong East Mosque is at 126 Guandian Street, Yuanbao District, Dandong, Liaoning. Accounts of its founding differ: one dates it to 1851 (1st year of the Qing Xianfeng era), another to 1877 (3rd year of Guangxu). The mosque covers 0.9 mu in a courtyard layout with 250 square metres of buildings; the prayer hall carries a black-and-gold "Basmala" plaque, and there are ablution, reception and lecture rooms. The renowned imam Wang Jingzhai served as its imam in 1928, and Imam Zhao Mingzhou, a former standing committee member of the China Islamic Association, led it twice, in 1941 and 1948.
