Changping Mosque

昌平清真寺
📍 Beijing · Changping District 🏛️ Ming dynasty

📜 About & history

Changping Mosque is an Islamic complex in Changping District, Beijing, dating to the Ming dynasty: one account credits the general Chang Yuchun with founding it, another says it was built in the Yongle era with materials left over from the Ming Tombs. The main hall's pillars are of golden-thread nanmu, unique among Beijing mosques, and the layout combines a Chinese courtyard with Islamic features. It was restored with government support in 1995 and keeps Wanli-era steles and Qing-era plaques.
