📜 About & history
The mosque was first built in 1279 (the sixteenth year of the Yuan Zhiyuan era) by Muslim settlers. It expanded significantly from 1405 in the Ming period as the Muslim community grew. It acquired the name Fenghuang (Phoenix) Mosque in 1907 because its layout resembled a phoenix in flight.
