📜 About & history

Baofeng Mosque in northern Ningxia's Pingluo County was reputedly first built in 1623 (the third year of the Ming Tianqi reign). It was demolished during the Tongzhi-era upheavals of the Qing, its materials taken to repair a temple in the Helan Mountains, then rebuilt by local Muslims. Reopened in 1958, damaged in the Cultural Revolution, and reconstructed from 1979 and expanded in 1983, it now has a 40-bay prayer hall and side rooms across about 5 mu.
