A large hardware market officially opened in October 1994 in Diankou Town, where Zhuji, Shaoxing and Xiaoshan meet. It follows a 'shop in front, factory behind' model, with 2,010 hardware stores and nearly 3,000 hardware makers, selling more than 2,700 products in eight categories such as auto parts and plumbing fittings. Turnover reached 7.6 billion yuan in 2006, and products are exported to the US, Japan and Southeast Asia.
