📜 The law text / key provisions
The Road Traffic Safety Law (2011 Amendment) provides: (1) Foreign driving license: foreigners may convert their foreign driving licenses to Chinese licenses after passing a theory test; (2) Drink driving: blood alcohol limit 0.02% for offense, 0.08% for criminal offense; (3) Traffic signals: running a red light is among the most serious violations; (4) Traffic accidents: person causing accident obliged to pay compensation and medical treatment for those injured; (5) Points system: driving license canceled upon exhaustion of annual points (12 points).
