📜 The law text / key provisions
The Land Administration Law (2019 Amendment) provides: (1) Land ownership: all land in China owned by the state or rural collectives; (2) Use rights: individuals and companies granted land use rights for specified periods (70 years for residences); (3) Foreigners and use rights: foreigners permitted to hold land use rights for commercial and residential purposes under conditions; (4) Government expropriation: state has right to expropriate land with fair compensation; (5) Rural land: non-members of rural community prohibited from holding rural land.
