📜 The law text / key provisions
The Customs Law (2021 Amendment) provides: (1) Tourist duty-free exemptions: RMB 5,000 maximum for personal goods for non-residents; (2) Prohibited goods: weapons, drugs, publications harmful to national security, unlicensed animal and plant products; (3) Currency declaration: must declare more than RMB 20,000 or equivalent in foreign currency; (4) E-commerce: special provisions for international postal parcels; (5) Smuggling penalties: fines and imprisonment based on goods value.
