Illustrative, general educational examples — not real specific facts and not legal advice; for awareness only. For an actual situation, consult a licensed lawyer.
A foreigner married to a Chinese citizen is granted a Q1 visa for long-term residence. Required documents: (1) marriage certificate certified by the Chinese embassy; (2) valid passport; (3) no-criminal-record certificate; (4) certified health certificate. After 5 years of marriage, the foreign spouse may apply for permanent residence (Chinese green card). The residence permit is renewed every 2 years and requires not being absent from China for more than 90 consecutive days.

🎓 The lesson / takeaway

Ensure all documents are officially authenticated before applying. Extended absence from China may affect your permanent residency eligibility.
