Alibaba Trade Assurance: How to Protect Your Money
Trade Assurance is Alibaba's guarantee for buyers. When you pay through it, Alibaba mediates between seller and buyer and compensates you if the supplier fails to deliver.
What does Trade Assurance cover?
1. On-time delivery:
If the supplier misses the agreed date, you can claim compensation.
2. Product conformity:
If the goods arrive not matching the contract specifications (quality, quantity, design), you can claim.
3. Refunds:
Once a failure is proven, Alibaba obliges the supplier to compensate or refund the amount.
Conditions for using Trade Assurance
- The supplier must carry the Trade Assurance badge
- Payment must go through the platform (not outside it)
- The deal's terms must be recorded in the electronic contract on Alibaba (Order Agreement)
- The claim must be filed within 30 days of receipt
How to activate Trade Assurance in your deal
1. Ask the supplier to send a "Trade Assurance Order" through Alibaba
2. Review the contract terms: quantity, specifications, shipping date, price
3. Add the quality conditions clearly (you can attach detailed specifications)
4. Pay through the platform in US dollars
5. After receipt, check the goods and confirm receipt within the set period
What Trade Assurance does not cover
- Deals paid outside the platform (direct T/T, Western Union)
- Claims filed after 30 days
- Customs losses or shipping damage
- Force majeure (natural disasters and the like)
Tip for beginners: always place your first orders with suppliers who have Trade Assurance, and pay through the platform.
