Zhuzhou

Zhuzhou is an industrial city in eastern Hunan, just south of the provincial capital Changsha, and one of the birthplaces of China's modern railway industry. It is a national hub for electric locomotive and high-speed train manufacturing, home to CRRC Zhuzhou whose engines and rolling stock run across China and are exported worldwide. The surrounding Yanling county holds the Mausoleum of the Yan Emperor (Yandi), a legendary founding ancestor of the Chinese people and a major pilgrimage site. Zhuzhou has worked hard to shed a heavily polluted past, greening its riverbanks along the Xiang River. Together with Changsha and Xiangtan it forms one of central China's most important urban clusters.
