Weifang

Weifang is a central Shandong city renowned worldwide as the 'Kite Capital,' home to the International Kite Festival that draws flyers from dozens of countries every April. Kite-making and New Year woodblock prints from Yangjiabu are centuries-old folk crafts still practiced here. The city sits on the fertile North China Plain and is a major producer of vegetables and agricultural machinery, with the giant Shouguang vegetable base nearby. It also hosts heavy industry, from diesel engines (Weichai Power) to textiles. Historic Qingzhou, one of ancient China's nine provinces, lies within its borders with well-preserved old streets and Buddhist relics.
