Chuzhou
Chuzhou lies in eastern Anhui at the border with Jiangsu, within easy reach of Nanjing. Its Langya Mountain and the Zuiweng Pavilion are immortalized in Ouyang Xiu's classic Song-dynasty essay 'The Old Drunkard's Pavilion.' Fengyang County, part of Chuzhou, was the birthplace of Ming founder Zhu Yuanzhang and preserves the ruins of his Ming Central Capital. The village of Xiaogang is celebrated as the cradle of China's rural reform, where farmers secretly launched the household-responsibility system in 1978. High-speed trains on the Beijing-Shanghai line stop at Chuzhou West, tying the city into the Yangtze Delta.
