Beijing Off-Road traces its lineage to the military BJ212 developed in 1966, a national icon of Chinese off-road vehicles through decades of military and agricultural use. BAIC Group reorganised this heritage into a standalone brand in 2016, specialising in genuine body-on-frame off-roaders for camping, desert and mountain enthusiasts. Its current range includes the compact BJ40 and the larger BJ60, alongside more premium models like the BJ80, and the brand is gradually adding extended-range hybrid (EREV) variants to keep pace with China's new-energy shift without abandoning authentic off-road capability.
