The Jinan Xueye Lake Tourist Area in Laiwu District, 46 kilometres from central Jinan, covers 587.6 square kilometres. It is a Shandong provincial tourist resort, a national water-conservancy scenic area and the permanent venue of the China International Aviation Sports Festival. Xueye Lake has 15 square kilometres of water holding 240 million cubic metres, the largest body of water within 50 kilometres of Jinan. The area also has the Huashan and Ma'anshan forest parks, the Xueye Lake National Wetland Park and the Jiulong Grand Canyon geopark, with 70% forest cover.
