Mount Lu (Lushan) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1996), recognized as a Cultural Landscape of Outstanding Universal Value. Rising to 1,474 meters above the Yangtze River plain, it has been revered for millennia as a place of spiritual retreat and poetic inspiration, associated with over 1,500 Tang and Song Dynasty poems. The scenic area includes waterfalls, cliffs, the 'Misting Curtain Falls', and villas built by foreign diplomats in the early 20th century.
