ℹ️ About

The Nandong ("South Cave") Caves are on Nandong Road on the southern outskirts of Kaiyuan, about 10 km from the city, and form a key part of the national 4A Kaiyuan Nandong-Fenghuang Valley tourist area. Yang Sheng'an, a Ming-dynasty top scholar, visited and inscribed the name "Nandong", and Yunnan governor Zou Yinglong renamed it Tongling Cave, giving it a history of more than 400 years. Surrounded by hills on three sides and facing the plain on the fourth, it is a karst area where three underground rivers merge to form the Nandong River. The area has eight caves, the best known being Taoyuan and Tongling caves, with stalactites in many shapes, as well as a glass sky bridge, a glass slide and jungle glass-flume rafting.
