ℹ️ About

A three-storey traditional tower perched on a rock in the middle of the Nanming River at the heart of Guiyang, first built in 1598 during the Ming dynasty to honour the region's first successful imperial-exam candidate and encourage other scholars to follow his example. It has been rebuilt six times over its history after fires, floods and wars, most recently in 1981 following the original design, and is linked to the riverbank by the historic arched Fuyu Bridge. Listed as a state-protected cultural relic in 2006, it is now Guiyang's best-known visual landmark.
