ℹ️ About

A historic gate in the Great Wall guarding the Zhangjiakou corridor between the Mongolian plateau and the North China plain, and the only Great Wall passage named 'men' (gate) rather than 'guan' or 'kou'. For centuries it was the outlet of the great tea road to Russia and a trading point between Han merchants and steppe herders. Four large characters on the gate read 'Da Hao He Shan' - magnificent rivers and mountains. The surrounding area is today a national 4A scenic area taking in the wall towers and the historic trading street of Qiaoxi District.
