A single moon hangs over Chang'an,
Ten thousand homes resound with the sound of pounding cloth.
The autumn wind blows without cease,
All of it carrying thoughts of the Jade Gate Pass.
When will the barbarian foe be vanquished,
And my good man return from his distant campaign?
