近試上張水部
洞房昨夜停紅燭，待曉堂前拜舅姑。
妝罷低聲問夫婿，畫眉深淺入時無？
قبل الامتحان بقليل – إلى تشانغ شوبو
بيت العرس أمس أطفأ الشموع الحمراء،
ليتهيأ عند الفجر للسلام على العمّة والخال في القاعة.
بعد الزينة، تسأل بصوت خافت زوجها:
هل سُمك حاجبي المُرسومين مواكب للموضة؟
Shortly Before the Exam – To Zhang Shubu
Last night in the bridal chamber the red candles burned,
At dawn she will greet her aunt and uncle in the hall.
Her makeup done, she asks her husband in a low voice:
"Is the depth of my brows in fashion this year?"
