Meeting Feng Zhu in Chang'an

A guest came from the east,

With rain from Ba Ling still on his clothes.

I asked what brought him here—

He had gone to the mountains to buy an axe for gathering wood.

In the dim light the flowers were blooming,

And the young swallows were nursing their new brood.

Since we parted last, spring has come—

How many threads of grey now streak your hair?
