鳴箏金粟柱，素手玉房前。
欲得周郎顧，時時誤拂弦。

تَعْزِفُ الزِّنْجُ بِأَوْتَارِهِ الْمُذَهَّبَةِ، وَتِلْكَ الْيَدُ الْبَيْضَاءُ أَمَامَ الْحُجْرَةِ الْفَخْمَةِ.
وَلِكَيْ تَلْتَفِتَ إلَيْهَا الْأُسْتَاذُ جُو لَانغ، تُخْطِئُ بَيْنَ الْحِينِ وَالْآخَرِ فِي ضَرْبِ الْأَوْتَارِ.

The zither sings from pillars decked with golden grain,
A pale hand plays before the jade-walled windowpane.
Hoping to catch the Captain Zhou's admiring glance,
She oft will sweep the strings and miss the note by chance.
