Late Stop at Ezhou
The clouds part, and in the distance I glimpse Hanyang's walls—
Still a lone sail's journey of a full day's haul.
The merchant sleeps by day, knowing the waves are still;
The boatman speaks at night, aware the tide fills.
At Sanxiang, my fading temples meet autumn's hue;
Ten thousand miles, my heart for home faces the moon anew.
My old estate, swept away by war's cruel hand—
How much more can I bear the drumbeats from the river's strand?
