Gazing at Jimen
Gazing from Yan Terrace, the traveler's heart is stirred,
Pipes and drums resound through the Han general's camp.
Ten thousand leagues of cold light arise from piled snow,
At the three frontiers dawn colors stir the lofty banners.
Beacon fires on the battlefield join with the Hu moon,
Cloud-wrapped mountains by the sea embrace Ji City.
Though in youth I was not a clerk who cast aside his pen,
For merit now I would beg for the long cord of service.
