Gazing into the Wilds (White Snow on Western Mountains, Three Garrisons of Qi)
**Wild View**
Du Fu
West Mountain's white snow, the three frontier garrisons of Qi,
South Stream's clear river, the Bridge of Ten Thousand Li.
Across the land, wind and dust — my brothers are scattered;
At the edge of heaven, tears and grief — this lone body, far away.
In my fading years I can only offer up this many-sicknessed frame;
Not a drop of dust have I contributed to repay the sacred court.
I ride my horse out to the suburbs and gaze as far as sight allows —
How I cannot bear it: the affairs of men grow ever more desolate.
