Lament for Historic Sites, No. 3
Through mountains, ravines rushing to Jingmen's pass,
A village still remains where the Bright Lady came to pass.
She left the Purple Palace, joined the northern desert's bound,
A lone green mound still faces the dusk around.
A painted scroll could know her spring-breeze face no more,
Her jade-ringed spirit returns by moonlight to this shore.
For a thousand years her pipa played in foreign tongue,
Its grief and resentment in the melody still sung.
