Lament for Historic Sites, No. 1

Scattered and sundered amid the dust and wind of the northeast,

I have drifted and wandered between heaven and earth in the southwest.

At the gorges, towers and terraces have swallowed the days and months;

Among the Five Streams, their garments of cloth share the cloud-covered mountains.

The Jie Hu served their master with faithlessness to the end;

The poet, grieving for his times, has not yet returned.

Yu Xin's life was the most desolate of all—

His poems and rhapsodies in old age stirred the river passes.
