Station of the Planning Brush (Li Shangyin)

Birds and apes still fear his stern command,

Clouds and winds forever guard the camp's stockade.

In vain the great commander wielded his magic brush—

In the end the surrendered king rode the dispatch carriage.

Guan Zhong and Yue Yi had talent, and he matched them indeed;

With Guan Zhang dead, what could he do then?

In later years, passing the temple at Jinli,

The Liangfu Song was finished—and the regret remained.
