Lament for the Deceased Wife, No. 2

In jest I once spoke of things after my death—

Today, all of it comes before my eyes.

Her clothes have been given away, nearly all gone;

Her sewing kit remains, yet I cannot bear to open it.

Still I think of our old affection and treat her maids with kindness;

Once, too, I sent her money through dreams.

I know well that such grief comes to everyone—

But for a poor couple, every matter is a sorrow.
