Thread in a loving mother's hand,
Coat on her wandering son's frame.
Before departure, closely sewn—
Fear he may return, delayed and late.
Who says the heart of an inch-long blade of grass
Can repay the warmth of three springs' sunlight?

慈母手中線，遊子身上衣。
