Descending Mount Zhongnan and Staying Overnight at the Mountain Hermit's House
At dusk I descend from the emerald hills,
The mountain moon follows me as I return.
Looking back upon the path I came by,
The dim and deep blue stretches across the green haze.
Hand in hand we reach the farmer's home,
The children open the wicker gate.
Green bamboo leads into a quiet path,
Blue moss brushes against our walking clothes.
Joyful talk — and here we find our rest,
We raise fine wine and share it freely.
To the wind in the pines we sing our long song,
When the tune is done, the stars above the river grow thin.
I am drunk, and you are glad beside me,
In perfect ease we both forget the world's designs.
