📜 About & history

Tai'an County Mosque in Xiwopeng Village, Tai'an County, was founded in 1736 (1st year of the Qing Qianlong era) at the Huihui camp in Liwangzhuang, south of the county town. It was rebuilt in 1775 under the Mi, Jin and Zhang families; rebuilt anew at the north-east corner of Bajiaotai in 1798 and enlarged to 8 mu in 1815; thoroughly repaired in 1865; and rebuilt further forward after being burned in 1931. Destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, it was rebuilt east of Xiwopeng Village after 1978, and the prayer hall was completed in 1992. The congregation of 450 households (1,683 people), all Hui, follows the Gedimu tradition; the mosque holds 160 volumes in Arabic.
