Sala Mosque, at 27 Salasi Lane (Heping South Road) in Tianshan District, Urumqi, was founded in 1865. It is a brick-and-timber building with upturned eaves and projecting beams, with 488 square metres of floor space. Its name "Sala" reflects the ancestral origins of its Hui congregation, and nearby lanes such as Salasi Lane are named after it.
