📜 About & history

Lugu Mosque in Lugu Town, Mianning County, Sichuan, on the Chengdu-Kunming railway corridor, was founded in 1895 (21st year of the Qing Guangxu era). Its affairs were run by a resident imam until it was seized in 1939 and worship stopped; after 1949 the property long remained closed, and the occupied property was returned in 1986. Restored with funds raised by Hui Muslims and government support, it reopened in 1989 under a democratically elected management committee. Lugu Town has more than 400 Hui Muslims.
